Prichard Colon and His Life History – From Boxing Career To Last Fight
Prichard Colon Melendez born in Maitland Florida in 19 September 1992. A boxer who will be always remembered because of his swag and unbroken ambitions was a naughty child of the family. His father Richard Colon decided to move to Puerto Rico to fulfill the boxing goals of Junior Colon.
Prichard won 5 national championships for his state Puerto Rico and other victories like the Pan American Youth Championship in 2010. He was known as Digget in his town because of his height and physique. He took part in Summer Olympics 2012 in London, but couldn’t win the title.
In 2013 Prichard started his professional boxing career with his first fight against Xavier La Salle at Cosme Betita Salamo Coliseum in Catano with a first-round knockout win. Soon he gained so much fame as a professional Boxer.

He started his professional boxing career in 2013 at the age of 20 years and straightaway he fought 11 times in 2013-2014. He won 16 fights out of 16 with 13 knockout wins until his deadly fight came and ended his career. Prichard’s record is marvelous in professional boxing. One of his memorable fights was against Ricoh Coliseum on September 9, 2015.

Prichard Colon Last Fight – The Moment He Lost The Fight
Aah, the sad day came in Richard’s life and he challenged another famous American boxer, Terrel Williams. The fight ere fixed on October 17, 2015, at Eaglebank Arean in Fairfax Virginia. The famous fight started with the dominance of Colon, he dominated Terrel in the first 5 rounds with a slight edge.
But the problem started with the unfair punches by Terrel, he continuously punched the back side of Colon’s head. Prichard complained about his illegal rabbit punches, but the referee Joseph Cooper refused to cut Terrel’s points. He allowed Terrel to do, whatever he wanted to do.
In 5th round Colon responded to Terrel’s illegal punches with a solid low blow that cost him 2 points. Terrel was continuously hitting at the same backhead point, which caused dizziness and Prichard went down and fell for the first time. He explained to the doctor Richard Ashby, that he was feeling dizzy but the doctor told him to ignore it and cleared him for the fight.
Williams was continuously hitting rabbit punches, referee penalized him with one point after a major blow to the Colon’s back of the head. Colon was fighting like a warrior despite feeling pain in his head, he was getting lazy with each passing round.

In the 9th round, Prichard again felt dizzy and fell on the floor, and after round 9 he mistakenly removed his gloves which led to disqualification and his first loss in his professional career.
What Happened to Prichard Colon Exactly?
After his fight ended, Prichard went to the dressing room with his mom Nieves Colon where he started vomiting and ultimately got unconscious. Colon was taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with left-sided subdural hematoma due to skull breakage.
Immediate surgery was performed which caused a coma for 221 days, and after coma, he remained in a persistent vegetative state for a long time. The famous boxer was treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia, and after some time he transferred to the Shepherd Centre in Atlanta Georgia, and finally, he was moved to Orlando Florida in his mother’s home.
In 2017, his parents filed a lawsuit to seek damage from the promoter and ringside doctor for more than 50 million dollars. Neive Colon believes, that his son will not get justice in this case.
Colon’s accident entirely changed his life, and suddenly a professional boxer was now limited to a hospital bed. In February 2018, his rehabilitation process started at Brooks Rehabilitation Centre in Orange Park for the BRAV program.
Prichard Colon Now – Recent Status Of Prichard
After waking up from his vegetative state, the real-life hero started his rehabilitation journey under the guidance of experts. Doctors started his physiotherapy along with other occupational therapies. He started to move around in his special wheelchair.
Prichard is going through a very tough rehabilitation process, that ultimately led him to a better state. Colon now responds to the different signs and communicates through a special computer designed for him.
In his recent video on his Facebook account, he can be seen interacting with his physiotherapist and in one video his sister is boxing with him. In another video, he is hugging his ex-girlfriend.
Prichard in 2025 is a far better version than in 2017 when he was just stuck to the bed and couldn’t even move. In a recent video, he was seen in a shopping mall, moving around in his wheelchair and smiling with a determined face.
